The Beekeeper

The Beekeeper  directed by David Ayer and starring Jason Statham hit streaming on Prime Video earlier this month. This one-man-army action flick follows Adam Clay (Statham), a seemingly innocent local beekeeper, as he takes on a vengeance campaign for victims of cybercrime. We come to learn that Clay is much more than just a peaceful beekeeper and actually an ex-member of an elite group of mercenaries called The Beekeepers. I would describe The Beekeeper  the same way that I would describe most of Statham's movies: fun but kind of bad. The movie delivers exactly what is advertised: ridiculous violence and some bad guys getting their comeuppance at the hands of Jason Statham. The action sequences were pretty cool, and Josh Hutcherson was really good as the main villain.  I also thought that it was a nice creative choice by the director to incorporate the color yellow in many of the scenes.
