Terrifier 3
This weekend, some friends and I went to see Terrifier 3 which was written and directed by Damien Leone and stars David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera. In this third chapter of the Terrifier franchise, we rejoin Art the Clown as he continues to administer chaos and bloodshed to the people of Miles County. This time, not even kids are safe in this brutally gory slasher franchise which continues to out-do itself one movie to the next.
This movie left me feeling a little unwell and far from anything that would be considered "warm and fuzzy." I did not feel like I was going to be sick at any time, but there are some extremely graphic scenes along with some scenes that are downright upsetting, so steer clear if you are squeamish, and I highly recommend reading the parental guide provided on iMDB.com. Despite the way I felt after seeing the movie, I did enjoy it. These movies are a lot of fun, and they provide exactly what is advertised which is a lot of senseless violence mixed with just the right amount of comedic relief.... both delivered by Art the Clown.
With each Terrifier movie that comes out, the production quality improves which makes for a more believable and more graphic slasher. The writing still leaves a lot to be desired, but it is getting better. In this film, the story flows pretty well until the big climax of the film where things go off the rails and it seems like the dynamic between our two main villains, Art and Victoria, flips for some reason. Other than that, this is an enjoyable film, especially if you are a fan of horror and gore. I really enjoyed the performance delivered by David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown and I felt like he stole the show. Damien Leone has created this generations' Michael Myers or Freddie Krueger, and it looks like Art the Clown is here to stay!
