The Platform 2

The Platform 2, sequel to the hit prison horror drama from 2019, was released on Netflix this past Friday. I really enjoyed the first movie and was excited when I heard that it was getting a sequel. The Platform 2 actually takes place a little bit before the events of The Platform and focuses on a totally new story following Perempuan as she struggles with her own guilt along with surviving the platform. The film also features Natalie Tena whom many may remember from her performance as Nymphadora from Harry Potter or Osha from Game of Thrones.

Overall, this movie is very "meh." It starts off pretty exciting as we meet new characters and learn the specific rules that are handed down by the "anointed ones." I liked the way that we start to realize that these "anointed ones" were not so righteous as we were initially led to believe. Honestly, I felt that the film was moving along nicely and was shaping up to be a really good prequel until the final act of the film. At this point, the story takes a turn, and it begins to become obvious that many questions from the first movie that I had hoped would be answered in this one, were not going to be answered. It also began to quickly go off the rails and not entirely make sense.

Thanks for reading and if you want to check out both this film, as well as the first film in the franchise, they are both streaming on Netflix now.

Thank you for reading!
