Trap

M. Night Shyamalan's newest masterpiece, Trap, is now in theaters. The movie stars Josh Hartnett as Cooper, a small-town dad who brings his daughter to a concert only to find that his secret double life is about to catch up with him. The film also features Allison Pill and M. Night Shyamalan's daughter, Saleka Shyamalan, who wrote and performed all of the original songs for the movie.

Trap is the type of movie where you'd rather pee your pants than leave the theater and miss even a single moment. It is a wild ride from start to finish and I loved every second. It is wildly unique in the fact that the entire movie is from Cooper's point of view which we never see in a serial killer movie. Normally, serial killer movies focus on the victims whereas in this one, we really don't see them at all. What stood out above all else for me in this film was the brilliant acting performance delivered by Josh Hartnett. The way that he was able to switch from dad mode to serial killer mode was chilling and truly impressive. I found myself rooting for him at times, even though we the audience knew very well what a monster he is. This is the type of movie that is so well written and acted that you the viewer are sucked in and completely forget that you are watching a movie.

In my opinion, this is one of the best films to be released in 2024. M. Night Shyamalan has created a whole new type of serial killer movie, and I highly recommend checking this out while it is still in theaters.

Thanks for reading!
