American Nightmare: Docuseries Review

 Hello,

Last week, my wife and I had nothing to watch so we did what we usually do when we are faced with this predicament: scroll our streaming services until we find something that peaks our interest. After a few minutes of scrolling, we landed on a 3-part docuseries titled American Nightmare which was released to Netflix on January 17th.

The series centers around Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn, a couple living in Vallejo CA, who are the victims of a kidnapping. In the middle of the night, the couple is woken up, drugged, and Denise is kidnapped leaving Aaron alone in the house but too drugged up to know what to do. After a few days, Denise shows up, physically unharmed. This raises suspicions and causes the police to question the validity of the kidnapping all together. The police even dub Denise the "real Gone Girl," referring to Ben Affleck's 2014 thriller Gone Girl.

This is one of those docuseries' that leaves you thinking "I can't believe this actually happened." At first, you feel sad for Denise and Aaron for what happened to them, then you feel infuriated due to the way that the police behaved during this case. In more than one occasion, my wife and I found ourselves yelling at the TV because our frustrations got the better of us.

This docuseries is extremely well-done and I highly recommend American Nightmare to anyone who is a true crime buff.

Thanks!
