Movie's that I feel should get a sequel or reboot

Throughout Hollywood's history there have always been sequels, reboots, and remakes. Lately it seems like they have been relying on the retelling or continuation of stories a little heavier than normal. It is evidenced by all of the live action remakes that Disney has been doing of all of their classic animated films, and also by the occasional reboot of a cult classic such as Coming 2 America and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. I am not complaining here because I love a good retelling of a beloved story, like Mean Girls (2023) or a continuation of beloved characters like Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, but I can't help but think about some great films/franchises that seem to be continuously left out year after year.

1. Escape Room 3

The Escape Room films are two favorites of both my wife and me. The first film came out in 2019        featuring 6 strangers who find themselves playing for their lives in a mysterious escape room. The        movie was a hit at the box office grossing over $150M worldwide from their mere $9M budget                despite only scoring a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. The follow up, Escape Room: Tournament of                Champions, brings us back to the champions of the first film as they unwillingly must join the other        champions from other games to again navigate through deadly escape rooms in order to win the            game. Unfortunately, the sequel did not perform as well at the box office grossing only $65M, which     was still a profit from its $15M budget. The film scored a 51% on Rotten Tomatoes which, although        being higher than the first movie, was not good enough to convince the powers at be to green light a        third installment.

A conclusion to this story would be very well received by not only fans of the first two films, but            horror and mystery fans alike, not to mention fans of escape rooms. I would imagine that the third        installment of the franchise would be the final one as well, and we would finally find out who is            behind the creation of the escape rooms and we would be treated to a final showdown of sorts, and of     course some really cool and deadly escape rooms.

2. Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League

I recently watched The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension with my friends and     I even did a review on it last month. I loved this movie and found out that there even was a sequel        already in the works, Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League. Unfortunately, the original film     did so poorly in the box office that the production company, Sherwood Studios, actually went                bankrupt thusly killing any hope of the sequel coming to life. Fast forward 40 years after its                    release, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension has become a cult classic            beloved by sci-fi adventure fans of all ages.

For anyone who hasn't had a chance to see this film from 1984, I urge you to watch it. After you            complete the film, you will either think I am insane and have no taste in movies, OR you will                completely agree and be rooting for a sequel to this cult classic.

3. National Treasure 3

There have been rumors of a third installment to the beloved National Treasure franchise starring            Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha for decades at this point. In 2022, there was a failed        attempt of turning National Treasure into a tv series which was quickly canceled after just 1 season        on Disney+. Both National Treasure and its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, were box            office hits grossing 347M and 459M respectfully and some could argue that Ben Gates is one of, if        not Nic Cage's most iconic roles.

When rewatching the first movie the other day, I thought of how cool it would be if for the third            movie, they brought back Sean Bean's character hell bent on revenge for having his plans foiled by        Ben in the first movie.

The reality of any of these sequels happening is sadly far from a possibility. Which is a shame because I really believe that these films would do very well in the box office and be very well received.

Thank you so much for reading! Please comment below on whether or not you agree AND/or if you have any other ideas of movies that need a sequel!
