Incoming

Netflix's newest teen comedy, Incoming, hit streaming on August 23rd. The film is directed and written by Dave and John Chernin and stars Mason Thames, Ramon Reed, Raphael Alejandro, and Bardia Seiri as four best friends who try and navigate their freshman year of high school. This serves as the first feature film directed by both Dave and John Chernin and honestly, you can tell. 

This movie had potential to being a good teen comedy with goofy raunchy jokes similar to 2019's Good Boys, but unfortunately, that was just not the case here. The acting was pretty terrible, and, although there were some funny moments, I felt that the film missed on most of its jokes. There was one bright spot in the film and that was Bobby's Cannavale's performance as Mr. Studebaker; the cool teacher who turns out to be sort of a loser. He was very funny and probably the only time that I laughed during the movie. Overall, I would recommend skipping this movie. There are plenty of raunchy and funny teen comedies streaming on major platforms to choose from.
