Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs directed by Adam Cooper and based on the book "The Book of Mirrors" by E.O. Chirovici is now streaming on Hulu. The film reunites Russell Crowe and Tommy Flanagan 24 years after appearing together in Gladiator and also features the wonderfully talented Karen Gillan. The movie follows Roy Freeman (Crowe), an ex-homicide detective suffering from a severe brain injury which causes memory loss, who, when he opens up an old case that he worked on, discovers that many would rather prefer that he.... let sleeping dogs lie. 

This movie was pretty good, not great but also not that bad either. I thought that the execution of the story was well done and the acting by Crowe, Flannagan, and Gillan was great as always. The story was slow at times, and I felt that they rushed to the finish line toward the end, but overall, I enjoyed it. Russell Crowe has been coming out with a lot of B movies lately and similar to Nic Cage and his B movies, they all seem to have the potential to be hidden gems. I recommend checking this movie out if nothing else than to see the due of Crowe and Flanagan back together again.
