MaXXXine

"I will not accept a life that I do not deserve." That has become the famous quote from the X trilogy, and it speaks loudly the theme to the three movies. The franchise follows Maxine who will stop at nothing to achieve her dream of being a famous actress. The 3rd and possibly final installment of the trilogy, MaXXXine, is now in theaters and it is wonderful.  The film picks up after the events of X with Maxine now living in Los Angeles as a porn star but getting closer and closer to realizing her dreams and getting that life that she feels she deserves.

When watching this movie, I felt like I was watching a love letter to the 80s era of Hollywood. Everything from the set and costume design, down to the style in which this was shot made it feel like this was an 80s movie. Not to mention the fact that Kevin Bacon himself is in it! The acting and writing was brilliant but above all else i loved how this film was made and the continuing theme of not accepting a life that you do not deserve. 

I absolutely loved this movie and I recommend going to see it in theaters. If you haven't seen X yet, I believe the story will flow better and make more sense if you watch that first. Both X and Pearl are currently streaming on Paramount+.
